Jean Day-Stamper, 82, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 27, 1942, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Lorenz H. and Florence Marie Brookhiser Vahle. On Dec. 20, 1959, she married Louie Jr. Day. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2003. She later married David Stamper on July 29, 2006.

Jean drove a school bus for the Burlington Community School system for 21 years.

She was a member of Spring Grove United Methodist Church and the American Ladies Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. 

Survivors include her husband, David Stamper of Burlington; daughters, Virginia Eastin of Burlington, and  Lori (Jim) Parcel of Davenport; grandchildren, Drew (Katie) Eastin, Adam Parcel, Astara and Aaron Stamper and Silas and Eleanor Boyer; and great-grandchild, Griffin Day Eastin.

Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, parents, two brothers, Walter R. Rehm and August F. Vahle, sister, Emma Bruhl and son, Chad Stamper.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The memorial service for Jean will be 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service with Pastor Jan Garza officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Spring Grove United Methodist Church.
