John S. Diewold, 67, of Burlington, died Friday, May 23, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born on November 27, 1957, in Burlington, he was the son of Paul and Mildred Schultz Diewold.

John attended Burlington Notre Dame. He worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and later as an iron worker in construction for many years. John was an avid fisherman and sports enthusiast. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and St Louis Cardinals. In his free time, he enjoyed being out gardening, mushroom hunting and feeding wildlife in his back yard. Most of all John always enjoyed spending time with his nephews, who brought him so much joy.

He is survived by is sister Jan Diewold-Mehaffy; two nephews: Paul (Maria) DeWitt and their son Noah DeWitt and James DeWitt and his sons Cameron and James DeWitt.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Bert Weddell and brother in-law Rickey Mehaffy.

Cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.
