James Oral Martin, 82, of Burlington, died Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Southeast

Born November 1, 1940, he was the son of Oral Emory and Ethel Louise Walker Martin

After graduating from Burlington High School, James enlisted in the United States Navy.

Returning home, he worked for Burlington Linoleum &amp; Tile, Don's Guns, and the Mississippi&nbsp;Bakery. James was an NRA lifelong member and loved hunting, rodeos, and being with family.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda of Burlington; children Debbra Martin and Sherri&nbsp;Martin of Lomax, Ill., Michael (Tammy) Martin of Moline, Ill., Cyndy Foster and Tammy Jo&nbsp;Underwood of Burlington, and Scott (Amy) Tincher of Bloomington, Minn.; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one brother Charles (Joanna) Martin of Gallatin, Tenn., one niece,&nbsp;and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson.

Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. Per James’ wishes, there will be no services at this time. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

A memorial has been established for the Veteran’s Hospital in Iowa City.
