Ronald Lee Smelser, 66, Danville, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2024.&nbsp;Ron was born Nov. 20, 1957, son to William “Billy” &amp; Virginia Smelser. Ron was raised by Harold D &amp; his mother Virginia Savage after his father died when he was only 18 months old.&nbsp;

Ron graduated from Fairfield high school and later married Darla Carrico Aug.&nbsp; 22, 1981. She died July 25, 1994. They together had a son, William Brian, who died at birth.

Ron worked for years in Fairfield at a local car wash, later Midwest Biscuit in West Burlington, Catfish Bend Casino and then retired after 15 plus years delivering the Hawkeye newspaper in his town of Danville. In his free time, Ron enjoyed fishing.

Ron is survived by a brother Harold "Dwane" Savage his wife Pat, and a sister Julia Peterson.

Ron's mother, father, wife, son, sister, brother-in-law and niece proceeded him in death.&nbsp;

Per his wishes cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.&nbsp;
