Carolyn R. Sliger, 81, of West Burlington, died on Monday Morning, May 26, 2025, at OakView Nursing and Rehab Center in Burlington.

Born on March 22, 1944, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Paul and Velma Goe Messer. Carolyn was a 1962 graduate of Burlington High School and on May 15, 1966, in Burlington she married Jerry G. Sliger.

Carolyn worked for Sutter Drugstore when she was a teenager then became a Teller and Office Associate for F & M Bank and Trust, First National Bank and K-Mart.

Carolyn was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed cross stitching, traveling, reading and spending time with her grandson and great grandsons. She loved her cocker spaniels and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 59 years Jerry of West Burlington; daughter, Tina (Jon) Riley of Stronghurst, IL; son, Michael Sliger of New Milford, CT; grandson, Justin (Jessica) Duffy of Ankeny; two great grandchildren, Mason and Theo; sister Barbara Collins of Des Moines, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul (Pat) Sliger, of Richmond, VA; many nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, sister Gloria, brother Raymond, and brother-in-law, Jack Collins.

The family will receive friends at Lunning Chapel, Friday, May 30th, 2025, 1 to 2 p.m.

The funeral service for Carolyn R. Sliger will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Lunning Chapel with Pastor Steven Parker officiating. Internment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation.
