Fire officials said a Burlington man was cited for an alleged illegal burn that sparked a garage fire.
At 4:18 p.m. on Saturday (April 8), Burlington firefighters responded to a report of a garage fire at 1128 Kroeger St. At the scene, firefighters found a garage with a walkout basement fully engulfed in flames.
The fire also engulfed a boat, with the heat from the blaze causing damage to the house, a tractor, and a camper.
The property owner, Edward Smith. was given a citation for illegal burning.
"The fire started as a result of illegally burning a hillside off," fire officials said in a press release.
Nine Burlington firefighters responded and were assisted by the Burlington Police Department and West Burlington Fire Department. There were no injuries reported. The garage was uninsured.
