Ruby Sharon Deggendorf, 87, of Burlington, died Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born Dec. 28, 1935, in Fulton, Miss., she was the daughter of L.J. and Levelle Dill. On Feb. 14, 1959, she married Robert "Bob" Lee in Wardel, Mo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2016.
Sharon graduated in 1955 from Wardell High School. She then attended Freed Gardeman College in Henderson, Tenn. for business administration. She graduated in 1957.
She worked for Burlington Community School District for 31 years before retiring in 2003.
Sharon loved to travel, cook, and canning vegetables. She enjoyed dancing, especially country line dancing and square dancing. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Steven (Angie) Deggendorf of Danville and Mike (Judy) Deggendorf of Bonner Springs, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Joshua, Ian, Luke, Caroline, Maria, and Matthew; two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Maeve; brother, Tom Dill.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son, Mark Deggendorf, brother, Lee Dill, and two sisters, Syble Brown and Lucille Wells.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Mrs. Deggendorf will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at Prugh Funeral Service. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #579.
