The Collective Food Hub has been recognized by the Greater Burlington Partnership as the 2022 Small Business of the Year. Since purchasing the business in 2021, Alex and Sarah Beames doubled their weekly sales by the end of the year with new customers coming in every week.
Their shop on Jefferson Street is filled with completely homemade delectables, farm-fresh produce, and locally-sourced meat and eggs. They have also added take-and-bake meals and just recently started dabbling with small venue catering. The shared-use kitchen is available to rent for the general public or for people who want to bake goods and sell them on the attached retail floor.
Giving back to the community is a core value of The Collective Food Hub. All left-over product is donated to Saint Vincent DePaul Food Pantry at the end of each week. The commercial kitchen and retail space have been made available to Vocational Rehabilitation clients. They also regularly donate to local benefits and have been very generous with sponsorships for community events.
The Collective Food Hub is located at 805 Jefferson St. in downtown Burlington. Their hours of operation are Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
