Leona Mae Cross, 93, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Burlington and Oakville, Iowa, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, November 6, 2025 at her daughter’s home. She was born May 12, 1932 in Oakville, Iowa, to Oscar and Sara Jesse Reddick Swanson. On May 6, 1951 she married in Wapello, Iowa, to Lloyd F. Cross of Burlington.
She always kept busy doing several jobs and enjoyed them all. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, reading, and her family. She was a member of the Wapello Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors are her two sons, Gerald of Burlington, Iowa, and Russell (Mary) of Alice, Texas, and one daughter, Vicki (Joe) Ward of Fort Worth, Texas. She has six grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, three sisters, and one brother. Her wishes are to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Church of the Nazarene, Wapello, Iowa. A memorial will be announced at a later date.
