
Patty L. Wood, 69, of Gladstone, died Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born May 27, 1956, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Robert "Bob" E. and Kathleen "Kate" I. Lewis McGraw. On September 24, 1977, she married Gary L. Wood in St Patrick Catholic Church in Raritan, Ill.
She was a 1974 graduate of Union High School.
Patty worked in the cafeteria at Union, now known as West Central School, for more than 20 years. After her time at the school, she spent many years helping her husband run their home daycare, continuing her care and dedication to the children and families in their community.
She also served as the treasurer for the Village of Gladstone for over 20 years. Patty enjoyed making ceramics. Above all else, Patty cherished time with her family. Whether she was playing cards,spending time visiting, or cheering on her children at their sporting events, those moments together meant the most to her.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Wood of Gladstone; daughter, Katie (Jacob) Sinkular of Coal City, Ill.; four grandchildren, Emmarsyn Grace Wood, Makenna Paige Sinkular, Landon Wayne Sinkular, and Oakley Lee Sinkular; four siblings, Lewis (Tammy) McGraw, Donna K. Albin, Kathy (Randy) Grafton and Betsy (Scott) Cooper all of Gladstone, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Zachary.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
Burial will be in Oquawka Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established for Klein Center's Memory Care Unit.
