Larry Dean Aden, 86, of Burlington, died Sunday, May 28, 2023, at his home at Bickford Cottage.

Born Aug. 14, 1936 in Burlington, he was the son of John and Sini DeBuhr Aden.

He was a 1953 graduate of Burlington High School and graduated Burlington Junior College. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1955-1957. He worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 38 years in the Engineering and Quality Departments.

He married Geri Blythe. They later divorced.

Larry loved listening to all music, especially with steel guitars. In his younger years, he owned and flew his own airplane and loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He enjoyed playing golf and reading and spent a lot of time at the Burlington Public Library.

He is survived by his two children; Karen (Jeff) Elliott and Sandy Elmore both of Burlington; grandchildren, Derek (Jaden) Elmore and Kayla Elmore; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and two nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Aden and sister Delores Fleming.

A celebration of life will be held during the Bees baseball game on Saturday, July 1 at the First Base Pavilion. There will be a special tent at the gate with tickets for friends and family. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. and game time is 6:30 p.m. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors at 5:45 p.m. at the pavilion.

Inurnment will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 1 at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Mr. Andy Avery will provide music and prayer.

Memorials have been established for Kings Daughters Retirement Home and Quilts of Valor.
