Lois M. Duke, 92, of Wever, died Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington. 

Born October 15, 1929, in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Leo and Helen (Owen) Martin. She married Monte Duke. They later divorced. She was previously married to Bryan Lewis and Russ Rawlings. 

Lois worked for National Research, Gibby’s, Winegard, and more recently for Wal-Mart for 23 years until her retirement.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. 
She was a very giving person and was “Mom” to everyone. She loved attending picnics, family gatherings, and spending time with her grandkids. She was an avid reader and enjoyed mushroom hunting, dancing, and roller skating in her younger years and attending the activities of her kids, grandkids, and family members. She prayed the Rosary nightly and was devoted to her faith. 

Survivors include her four children; Michael Lewis of Burlington, Lucinda “Cindy” Garrels of Wever, Rebecca “Becky” (Rick) Buford of Sherrard, Illinois, and Deanna Thele of Burlington; grandchildren, Lisa McPherson, Danny Thele, Michelle Lewis, Darren Brown, Christopher “Critter” Mcgiff-Brown and Shawn Brown; several great-grandchildren; several “bonus” children she raised as her own and numerous “bonus” grandchildren and great-grandchildren and three sister’s-in-law, Connie Martin, Bert Martin, and Nancy Martin. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; Bud, Teno, Jim, Donnie, Tom, and Dale; two sisters Betty and Doris and son-in-law David Garrels. 

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Eagles Club #150, Burlington. A memorial has been established. 
According to Lois’s wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program for medical research.
