Susan Gail Johnson, 76, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, peacefully in her home in Burlington.
Born October 1, 1947, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of Clyde Crowley and Josephine Lucy Crivello. She was married to Jim Bell Jr. for 17 years. They later divorced. On Nov. 20, 2015, she married Edward Charles Johnson.
Susan worked as an assembler for Champion Spark Plug for over 30 years.
She was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving from May 13, 1966 until July 19, 1968.
Susan truly cared about people. She was strong of character and had an excellent work ethic. She enjoyed talking to people about religion, working in her garden, going on drives in the country to observe wildlife, boating, and trips to the Dairy Queen.
Survivors include her spouse, Ed Johnson of Burlington; one son, Elliott (Jami) Bell of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Jennifer Bell-Shride of Burlington, Lisa DeJaynes of Carman, Ill., and Shannon (Chris) Hamilton of Missoula, Mont.; 11 grandchildren, Samantha (Aaron) Magee, Lacey (Cody) Thacker, Nathan DeJaynes, Tristan (Ellen) Sly, Katelyn Sly, Ashton Sly, Lane Hamilton, Cole Hamilton, Kirsten Shride, Blayne Bell, and Lexi Bell; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Johnson, and Bob Johnson; and three sisters, Mary (Kurt) Wieger, Karen Johnson, and Shirley (Faron) Springer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Sam DeJaynes.
Visitation with the family to receive friends will be 10 to 12 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Mrs. Johnson will be 12 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Pastor Mick Hall officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Heritage Baptist Church following the burial.
