Parlee Taylor, 74, of Burlington, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born July 27, 1949, in Arkansas, she was the daughter of Morris Sr. and Lessie Irine Garrett Lewis. She was one of 21 children. On July 19, 1975, she married Samuel N. " Little Buddy" Taylor in Burlington. He died Aug. 24, 1997.

She attended Carver High School in Luxora, Ark.  

Parlee worked in the food industry over the years including;  a cook at the Truck Stop and ran a cafe in Luxora, Ark.  with Little Buddy, The Potato House, B.S. Chumley's, Hardee's, a cook for area nursing homes, Columbus Junction's pork processing plant. She loved children and was a caregiver for several families. 

Parlee was a devout member of Hope Temple Christian Church and was a trustee. She loved fishing, playing bingo, cooking and enjoyed singing, especially in the family singing group, The Lewis Southernaires. Most of all Parlee loved spending time with her family and being a mother. 

Survivors include her sons, Robert Taylor and Jerome Taylor; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; 12 siblings, Magnolia Davis of Burlington, Maggie Lou Lewis of Dubuque, Thomas (ErmaLinda) Lewis of Sterling, Ill., Willie Lewis of Marion, L.C. (Sherry) Lewis of Burlington, Jerome (Mary Cay) Lewis of Colorado Springs, Colo., JoAnn Lewis of Burlington, Louise (Ronnie) Stinson of Cedar Rapids, Earl (Cleo) Lewis of Ft Madison, Rosie Cratton of Burlington, Lutrice Williams, and Raymond (Lauretta) Lewis of Burlington; a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, seven brothers, Joe, O.W., L.V., Morris Jr, John, Fred, James Sr. and one sister, Eva Mae Spencer .

Prugh Funeral Service is in care of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Bethany Lutheran Church.

The funeral service for Mrs. Taylor will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Ronnie Braggs officiating.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  A time of food and fellowship will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church following the burial.
