Kristi Anne Zick, 42, of Burlington, died Nov. 12, 2024 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, West Burlington, due to a Huntington’s-like Disease.

Born Sept. 30, 1982 in Arlington Heights, Ill., Kristi was the daughter of Wendy and Jerry Zick and sister of Julie Zick.  Kristi started elementary school in Arlington Heights and finished in Keokuk.  She then attended Oak Street Middle School and Burlington Community High School, graduating with the class of 2001.  Kristi’s activities included dance and cheerleading.  She especially enjoyed AP Calculus and Physics classes.

Kristi attended Iowa State University where she studied Materials Engineering.  She worked as a server and bartender in Ames and West Des Moines.  She returned to Burlington and worked as a receptionist at Deery Brothers until she became disabled.

Kristi enjoyed attending social events, decorating for holidays, baking sweet treats for family and friends, and working out with her fitness trainer, Stacey.  She loved playing Sudoku – but only the “hard” puzzles and solitaire on the computer.  She was an avid Chicago Bears fan.

As her disease progressed, Kristi moved in with her parents and brought much joy to their household.  She especially enjoyed spending time with them in their Venice, Florida residence where she was welcomed as a part of the community.  Kristi lived at Klein Center in West Burlington for the past few years where she was surrounded by wonderful, caring nurses, CNAs, and staff.

Kristi is survived by her parents, Wendy and Jerry Zick of Burlington, sister Julie Zick of Coralville, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by two uncles and her grandparents.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Burlington.  Funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Burlington.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, Iowa at a later date.  Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Memorials may be given in Kristi’s name to the Special Needs Foundation of Burlington, Stead Family Children’s Hospital of Iowa City, or Klein Center Activities Fund of West Burlington.
