MarScine Robinson Knotts Brown, 88, of Burlington, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born March 18, 1934, in Keokuk, she was the daughter of George Leonard and Mary Agnes South Robinson. MarScine married Russell Albert Knotts on April 6, 1956, in Keokuk, Iowa. He died Nov. 11, 1962. On Oct. 23, 1976, she married Frederick Morris Brown. He died March 22, 1998. 

MarScine worked for Winegard before working at the Social Security Office and Job Service (Workforce).

She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Fort Madison, Iowa. She was the past vice president and president of the NAACP. She enjoyed politics, watching westerns, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Julie) Knotts of Holland, Mich. and Jeffrey Knotts of Burlington; two daughters, Sherry J. (Collin) Wilson and Dauphine Thomas of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; Bonus Son, Derrick Overstreet of Holland, Mich.; and special friend, Ray Robinson of Burlington.

Besides both of her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Margo Swift, son, Frederick Morris Brown Jr., three brothers, seven sisters, and two nephews.

She was a very loving and caring woman with a heart of gold. She welcomed anyone she knew as one of her own. Her beautiful soul will be dearly missed. 

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 Friday, March 10, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The funeral service for Mrs. Brown will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Pastor Tim Redd officiating. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.  

A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
