
Robert Scott “Rob” “Robbie” Deitrick, 64, of Burlington died peacefully after a courageous battle of liver cancer, on Oct 18, 2021, surrounded by his wife and three daughters.
Rob was born on Jan 16, 1957, to Elaine and Franklin Deitrick.
Rob met and married his wife of 39 years, Rhonda DeReu, while serving in the U.S. Army. They married on Jan 15, 1982, in Newport News, Va.
Together they had three beautiful daughters: Jenny (Chuck) Reid, Angie (Brandon Swank) Deitrick, and Sammy (Lance) Jones who flourished his life with seven grandchildren: Braden, Jakson, and Bryce Reid; Brayden and Colton Jones; and Autumn and Julian Swank.
His siblings are Debbie (Mathew) Smithson, Dale “Dutch” (Denise) Deitrick, and Shelly (Rich) Yotter.
He teased and loved all his nieces and nephews as well as his great-nieces and nephews.
Rob was a stranger to none, he was a great storyteller, always ready to shake a hand, and make you laugh. He was a dancer and singer amongst his family. A lovable goof! He loved birds and collecting horse memorabilia and was a fan of the San Francisco Giants and Cleveland Browns. He played baseball and football while attending Mediapolis High, graduating in 1975.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim, and grandparents.
Rob marched to the beat of his own tune. God has accepted him with love, as those who knew him.
There will be no visitation. The funeral will be held Monday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. at Burlington Harmony Church, 550 Division St., Burlington. Family and close friends may meet at 10 a.m. A meal will be served after service at the church.
