
Haz Mae Ross, 78, of Burlington, died Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born Oct. 24, 1946, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Frank and Helen June McKenzie.She married Randy Ross on Feb. 11, 1989.
Haz worked as a teacher’s aide for the West Central School System. She previously worked for I.A.A.P. for 15 years and Vista Baker for 20 years. She took pride in teaching little kids how to read and loved working with them.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She absolutely loved sunflowers and garden gnomes. She enjoyed being out on the river, taking drives, listening to the Blues, having a cold Coors Light, being outdoors, and gardening. Her time spent with her grandchildren, and her dog, Ruby, was very precious to her.
She is survived by her husband, Randy Ross; children Rick (Shelley) Milks, Lon (Melanie) Milks, Jodi (Steve) Arnold, Troy (Becky) Courtois, Janelle Ross and Zach Ross; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Marvyl Craff and brother Floyd McKenzie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Scott and sister Rose.
According to her wishes cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. A celebration of life will be held in October.
