DAR Chapter issues Good Citizen Awards to local students

The Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award recognizes senior class students who exemplify the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism to an outstanding degree.

The DAR Good Citizens recognized by the Stars & Stripes Chapter DAR for 2021-2022 are:  Jasmine Allison (Burlington High School), Cassidy Yaley (Danville High School), Cami Jo Whitaker (Mediapolis High School), Alexis Mears (Notre Dame High School), and Jenna Schnellbacher (West Burlington High School).

These students were also eligible to apply for scholarships.

Alexis Mears was this year’s first place scholarship winner. Jasmine Allison received the second-place scholarship. A reception to honor the DAR Good Citizens was held Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Spirit Hollow Golf Resort. Honored guests included DiAnne Lerud-Chubb, Honorary State Regent of Iowa, Past Vice President General 2008-2011; Tiffany Hauptman, State Recording Secretary ISDAR; and Gail Bonath, Southeast District Director ISDAR.
