Richard Brooks Bazel, 77, of Brashear, died Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Columbia Post Acute in Columbia, Mo.

Born January 18, 1947, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert "Bob" and Mary Imogene Brooks Bazel.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from July 28, 1965 until Feb. 12, 1968.

Richard enjoyed gardening, baking bread, riding his motorcycle and fixing cars. Most of all, Richard enjoyed traveling the world. 

Survivors include his sisters, Mary Lucia (Thomas) Swiler and Jane (Michael) Laue; and his nieces and nephews, Sara (Sean) Love, Harley Laue, Joey Swiler, and Melissa Swiler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles (Pete) and James (Jim) Bazel.

Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard for Mr. Bazel at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.  The funeral procession will depart for Bazel Cemetery, immediately after the military honors for his graveside service.

A memorial has been established for the VFW in Bagley, Wis.
