Leroy “Bus” Crist, 95, of Burlington, Iowa, died Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Burlington.
Born on August 29, 1930, in Madison, Kansas, he was the son of Clarence and Kathryn (Shirkey) Crist. On December 27, 1968, in Miami, Oklahoma, he married Joyce L. Bigham. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2010.
Bus was a member of First Christian Church of Burlington. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean War as a staff sergeant. He held an array of professional and academic achievements that took him to several cities across the Midwest. In 1993 he landed in Burlington, Iowa and worked for Southeastern Community College, where he retired from. In Bus’ free time he enjoyed designing houses, traveling and was quite the craftsman.
Bus is survived by his niece Renee Crist and nephew K.C. Crist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce, a sister and a brother.
Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
