Stephen John “Steve” Cline, 70, of West Burlington, died Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his home.
Born Sept. 28, 1953, in Clinton, he was the son of John Henry and Doris Cline. He married Nancy Selser on March 2, 1990.
Steve was a tractor mechanic for ’78 Equipment (John Deere), a welder for Mitchell Engineering, a truck driver and a farmer along with his father.
He loved antique tractors and looked forward to attending Old Threshers yearly. He loved racing and drove a late model race car for many years at West Liberty when it was Mississippi Valley Speed Club. In addition, Steve was the Crew Chief and owner of the LLM #28 driven by his wife. He was very mechanically inclined and his vehicles were always in perfect condition. Steve never missed a Women’s Iowa Hawkeyes Basketball game and loved driving a semi, mowing lawns and was an animal lover.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Cline of West Burlington; two children, Krista (Joe) Barnell of Cedar Rapids and Michael (Tiffany) Cline of Winfield; six grandchildren, Brayden, Brynlee, Masen, Kyler, Aaron, and Brandon; great grandchild, Zylen and siblings Dorilys, Jon, April, Cindy and Cecilia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, Michael and Bessie.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
Memorials have been established for Old Threshers and the Des Moines County Humane Society.
According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. Burial will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
