Jeremy Emmett Snelling (a.k.a. Miss Emma), 50, of West Burlington, died Thursday, July 4, 2024, at his home.
Born on Oct. 7, 1973, in El Reno, Okla., he was the son of Jay Snelling and Glenda Mosher.
Emmett (a.k.a. Miss Emma) had a heart of gold and will be remembered for his out going and most often out spoken bubbly and boisterous personality. He was very spirited and loud and most often slightly out of control, which led to his many notorious stories. His most favorite holiday was Christmas. Emmett loved to collect pandas and rubber ink stamps. He knew design and loved to make costumes for drag performances. In his free time, he enjoyed learning and reading about old Hollywood. Emmett loved his pets and would refer to himself as a fur daddy. His joyful spirit and kind heart will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his seven siblings: Glenn, Gary, Jerald and Geoffery Snelling, Jailyn Bardwell, Jean Locke and Jennifer Griffin all of El Reno, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are several close friends: Jerry Fenton, Curt Dietz (a.k.a. Courtney Michaels), Jace McKeever, Jason Murphy (a.k.a. Holly Vagas) and cousin Jessie Renolds.
He was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents: Glenn and Sylvia Wright and Frank and Louise Snelling.
Per his wishes cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established in his memory for Des Moines County Humane Society.
