
Lawanna E. "Lanny" Crowner passed away peacefully at the age of 72 on May 28, 2025, in Coralville, Iowa, with her son Steven by her side, after bravely battling cancer.
Born in Kansas, Lawanna carried a heart full of love and resilience throughout her life. she married the love of her life, John Crowner, on September 3, 1971, and remained devoted to him until his passing on September 6, 2011. She was an avid St. louis Cardinals fan, Cheering passionately for her team through the years.
Lawanna dedicated her career as a CNA bringing care and compassion to those in need. In her later years, she found joy in volunteering at West Burlington Elementary School, where she helped children develop their reading skills. Her kindness and patience left a lasting impact on many young lives.
In retirement, Lawanna continued to share her warmth and generosity, spending time at her daughter-in-law's daycare, reading books, playing, and dancing with the children. her laughter and love made every moment brighter for those around her.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, as she leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering kindness.
She is survived by her two sons, Steven (Cayla) Crowner of Coralville and Jeremy (Ashley) Crowner of Kalona and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Crowner, and her son John Crowner III.
According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, rural West Burlington.
