Jereld Dean Burbridge, 93, of Burlington, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at his home.
Born on Aug. 16, 1930, in Aurora, Mo., he was the son of Marion and Lela Faye McCullah Burbridge. On June 6, 1958, in Crane, Mo., he married Joyce Evelyn King. She preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 2013.
Jereld was a United States Navy veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He received his under graduate from University of Missouri in Agriculture and went on to obtain his masters degree in Dairy Production. Jereld was a lifelong member of Hawkeye Church serving as the lead deacon and a lifelong member of Mizzou Alumni Association. He was a high school teacher, teaching FFA. Later he became a Standard Operation Procedures Writer for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, where he retired from. Jereld enjoyed gardening in the summer. He also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and was a huge fan of Mizzou football. Jereld and Joyce loved being with their family. They would often take family vacations to Branson, Missouri and Table Rock Lake where they would meet other relatives. Most of all Jereld love the Lord and being with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his three children: Jeffrey (Young) Burbridge of Muscatine, Iowa, Jonathan (Janet) Burbridge of Robins, Iowa and Janelle (Mark) Talley of Burlington, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Joseph, Jonathan, Joshua, Austin (Gina), Rachel Burbridge and Carissa (Derek Carter), Drake Talley and one great grandchild Violet Wren Carter. Also surviving is Debra (Lawrence) Mead who was like a daughter to Jereld and close friend to the family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce and all his siblings.
Per his wishes cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, at Lunning Chapel with Jeff and Jon co-officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Lunning Chapel. A private family burial will be held in Spring Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his memory for Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice.
