Ronald F. Hoyt, 78, of Marshalltown and formerly of Burlington, died Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Iowa Veterans Home.

Ron was born May 9, 1945, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Frank Harold and Hope Irene Ross Hoyt. On May 5, 1973, he married Rebecca Wolfe of New London and they later divorced. On March 17, 2001 he married Peggy Ackey and she preceded him in death on March 13, 2021.

Ron graduated from Columbus Junction High School and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam war 1963 to 1967. He retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad after 30 years of employment.

Ron was a member of Sunnyside Avenue Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, golfing, cooking, and playing cards.

Survivors include his children; Jeremy Hoyt of Muscatine, Justin (Allison) Hoyt of Council Bluffs, and Jennifer Davis (Jerry Rutherford) of Burlington; two stepchildren, Melissa (Jeff) Stanton of Oquawka, Ill. and Travis (Jennifer) Fahlgren of North Carolina; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Gabriel of Muscatine, and Trudy Smith.

Besides his wife Peggy, Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tony.

There will be no formal funeral services for Ron. According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
