Russell W. Antes, 76, of Pontoosuc, Ill., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025 at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Ill. He was born Oct. 15, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois the son of Roland and Gladys Street Antes.&nbsp; Russell graduated from Plainfield, Illinois High School and attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Earlier, he worked for Dial Corporation in Fort Madison and most recently was a driver for Prime Trucking. Russell enjoyed writing, studying the Bible, and especially spending time with his family. He also loved to tinker and build things, hunt and fish. He is survived by 2 children, Laura (Tom) Puckett of Montrose, Iowa and Brian Antes of Carthage, Ill., three grandchildren, Kodi Puckett of Fort Madison, Iowa, Lisa Puckett of Farmington, Iowa, and Isaac (Natalyn) Puckett of Littleton, Colorado, and two great-grandchildren, Clarence and Eevee Brecount. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026 at the Pontoosuc Cemetery with Pastor Roger Welty officiating.&nbsp;

A memorial fund has been established for the Liberty University. Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City is assisting with arrangements.&nbsp;
