Joan Arlene Carr, 90, of Burlington, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 6, 1933, in Washington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Gilbert Patterson.

On Oct. 23, 2015, she married Francis Carr in Burlington.

She worked at Spurgeon’s Department Store for many years. Joan enjoyed reading, drawing, painting, and playing cards.

Survivors include her husband, Francis of Burlington; two daughters Lisa Martinez of Fort Madison, and Lori Wilband of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren Chantel Martinez Chamberlin of Fort Madison, Iowa, and Cory Martinez of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mark Moritz; three great-grandchildren Arius, Braelynn and Chayde.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters Clarice and Rita.

Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
