Barbara S. Middelton, 83, of West Burlington, died Friday, August 12, 2022, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born November 7, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Melvin Hugh and Eileen Ball Swink. She married Donald Middleton. He died December 31, 1996.
She worked for I.A.A.P., Campbell Chain, St. Francis Nursing Home, and finally for Schaffer Pen until her retirement in 2000.
Barb was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. She was the BEST COOK EVER! She enjoyed card nights with her siblings and nieces and nephews, sewing; and cherished her time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her five children; Cindy (Greg) Krogmeier of Mt. Pleasant, Laurie Benhart (Jeff Skow) and Lisa Buehner both of Burlington, Jim (Anne) Middleton of Leroy, Minnesota and Brenda (Moises) Rivera of Tenn.; her grandson Bryton Cross, whom she raised; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her siblings, Kay Swink and Donnie (Donna) Swink both of Burlington, Paula (Cliff) Kilpatrick of Round Rock, Tex. and Luana (Tim) Nelson of Dallas, Tex.; special niece and nephew Mike and Jackie Swink and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, John Swink and Charles Swink, one sister Diana Flactiff and son-in-law Gary Buehner.
A Celebration of Life will be held October 29th from 2-6 p.m. at the Burlington Gym. According to her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
