David “Duffy” Combs, 65, of Burlington died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.

Born Oct. 9, 1957, in Burlington, he was the son of Dennis Dean and Martha Jean Hoover Combs.

David graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1976. On Aug. 9, 2003, he married Laura Jean Baldwin in West Burlington.

David worked in maintenance and was a carpenter. He worked for Home Town Car Wash. He enjoyed building shadow boxes and porch swings. He liked to throw darts and enjoyed participating in dart league.

Survivors include his wife, Laura of Burlington, step-daughter Sara (Jason) Zahnd of Fisher, Ill.; step-son Daniel (Shannon) Birley of Rantoul, Ill.; six grandchildren; brother Danny Combs of Burlington and sister Julie Anderson of Mt. Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Teddy and sister Peggy.

Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
