David E. Ruberg, 74, of Burlington, died Sunday, April 12, 2026, at his home.

Born on November 12, 1951, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Eugene and Marion Kinney Ruberg. On November 7, 1980, in Burlington, he married Leslie Wilkerson. She survives.

David was a graduate of Burlington High School. He worked for General Electric as a design engineer for over thirty-five years until he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed going fishing, reading western books and gardening. David was mechanically inclined and could fix just about any car or engine.

He is survived by his wife Leslie; daughter April Rice of Burlington; step-children: Laurissa Mitchell of Burlington and Charles (Ashley) Mitchell of Ely, Iowa; twelve grandchildren: Sami Smith, Thomas Smith, Alex Rice, Matthew Rice, Paige Mitchell, Jordan Mitchell, Aiden Mitchell, Alex Lampe, Ceylon Puga-Mitchell, Emilia Mitchell, Haven Mitchell, and Charli Mitchell; two great grandchildren; four siblings: Michael (Young) Ruberg, Tim (Teresa) Ruberg, Lori Bohnenkamp and James (Rebecca) Ruberg. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Rhonda Sweezer and Sharon Anders; three nieces: Tanya Sweezer, Corina and Elizabeth Bohnenkamp.

Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.

No services will be held at this time.
