Richard R. “Dick” Penrod, 85, of Burlington, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at the Klein Center in West Burlington. Born on Dec. 15, 1939, in Burlington, he was the son of Ray and Vanessa Kimbrough Penrod. In 1961, he married Helen Morris, she survives.

Dick was a 1958 graduate of Burlington High School. He worked for J.I. Case for thirty years where he retired from. In his early years Dick enjoyed roller skating where he met his wife Helen, bowling, golfing and photography. His whole life he loved to go hunting, fishing and being outdoors enjoying mother nature. Most of all Dick enjoyed being with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Helen; nine children: John (Veronica) Penrod, Mike Penrod, Susan (Wayne) Hartman, Lonna (Doug) Boeset, Matthew Penrod, Luke (Wendy) Penrod, Mary (Jake) Whitehead, Cherry (Brian) Penrod and Amelia (Thomas) Penrod; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three siblings: Floyd (Patty) Penrod, Elsie Stafford and Barb (Gary) Glendening. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim Penrod; sisters: Florence Bolander, Viola Patton and Georgianna Vantiger and grandson Christopher.

Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb.  5, 2025, at Lunning Chapel, where the family will meet with friends.

A memorial has been established in his memory for Great River Klein Center.
