Joan L. Work, 88, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025, at the Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born Oct. 20, 1936, in Ft. Madison, she was the daughter of Harry and Dorothy Reichelt Linnenbrink. Joan married Robert Hill on Aug. 3, 1957 and later divorced in 1975. She married James Parisi on April 1981, who later passed away on Oct. 5, 1982. On Sept. 21, 1984, she married Robert Work in Burlington. Robert sadly passed away on Dec. 24, 2016.
Joan was a very independent person. She enjoyed spending time with her late husband Bob, whether that was traveling, boating or fishing. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and looked forward to making Christmas cookies for her family. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Joan loved dogs and always had animals throughout her life. Moreover she loved her family. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her. Joan will be missed tremendously, but her memory will continue on through all who love her.
Joan's family include her children, Robert (Linda) Hill of Burlington, Daniel (Jayne) Hill of Burlington, Jane (Matt) Schuler of New London, Christine (John) Marland of Willow Beach, Ariz.; grandchildren, Mollie, Kahlen, Jordan, Spencer, Jaclyn, Hannah, Jared, Stephanie, Jonathan, Danielle, Jaime, Justin, Julianna, JohnPaul, Terra and Dustin; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Sadly, Joan was preceded in death by her husbands, Jim and Bob; son, David Hill; and her parents and siblings.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Joan will be Monday, March 3, 2025, 10 a.m., at Divine Mercy Parish-Ss Mary and Patrick Catholic Church with Fr. Jake Greiner as the Celebrant. Visitation will precede the Mass from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Joan will be laid to rest following the Mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Burlington, next to her late husbands, Bob and Jim.
Memorial contributions in Joan's memory are suggested to Divine Mercy Parish.
