Louis Rodrigue Guery, 71, of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born in Haiti on Oct. 10, 1952, he was the son of Gerrard Guery and Venette Clairesaint Guery.
Louis graduated with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, and he was an entrepreneur and real estate broker. He loved music, playing the guitar, dancing, writing poems, and going to the ocean. Louis always wanted to make sure that no matter how his day was going, anyone with whom he came in contact would leave with a smile. He was passionate about listening to people, shared his wisdom freely, and mentored family and friends while sharing God’s love with them.
He is survived by his wife Therese Francois; four children: Claire, Roselaure, Louis Rodrigue, and Lynn E. Guery and one grandson; four sisters: Gerda St. Cloud, Marie Jinette Milfort, Marie Elza Guery, and Kettly Borgela and two brothers: Pierre Guy Guery and Jean Joseph Guery. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Louis will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Dean Graber as the officiant.
Per his wishes cremation will be accorded following the funeral service and has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
