
Harold "Wayne" Swisher, 81, of Lomax, Ill., passed away at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Wayne was born May 18, 1943 near Raritan, Ill., the son of Harold and Helen Maxine Jackson Swisher. On July 26, 1965, he married Connie Welch in Carthage, Ill. She preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2004. On July 10, 2008, he married Karen Anders Bowen in Aledo, Ill.. She survives.
Mr. Swisher was a 1962 graduate of LaHarpe High School. Shortly after high school, he began a 42 year career with Case in Burlington, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed camping, car shows, sports, visiting and hunting.
Besides his wife Karen, survivors include two children: Becky (Rick) Ferguson of Biggsville, Ill. and Rod (Pam) Swisher of LaHarpe, Ill.; one step-son: Tim (Jill) Bowen of Grayslake, Ill. two grandchildren: Jamie Trout and Dakotah (Aaron) Eike; five step-grandchildren: Chad Ferguson, Michelle Bundy, Lee Bowen, Jordyn Sinnett and Delaney Bowen; 7 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and two siblings: Chuck Swisher of Lomax, and Joyce Horn of LaHarpe.
Besides his first wife, Connie, he was preceded in death by two sons: Randy and Jason Swisher; two brothers: Bobby and Danny Swisher; one sister: Donna Martin and one step-grandson: Chad McConnell.
Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. March 29, 2025 at the Terre Haute Community Church in Terre Haute, Ill.
A memorial fund has been established in his memory.
