
Rick L. Philpott, 74, of Burlington, died Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at OakView Nursing and Rehab in Burlington.
Born on July 15, 1950, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Everett and Virginia Kindig Philpott. On June 2, 1968, in Burlington, Iowa, he married Susan Gallagher.
Rick worked for J.I. Case for forty-two years before he retired. He was of Christian faith and was dedicated to always serving the Lord. In his early years he enjoyed taking motorcycle rides with his wife and friends. He and Susan still enjoyed taking day trips or just going for a drive. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his yard and planting shrubs and trees. He had a special gift to be able to fix anything and was quite the handyman. He loved nothing more than being with his family and would never pass up an opportunity to spend time together.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Susan; three children: Christy (Fran) Torri of Grove City, Ohio, Jason (Jessie) Philpott of Burlington, Iowa and Kendra (Eric) Crawford of West Burlington, Iowa; four grandchildren: Patrick and Alexandria Smith and Jacob and Joshua Philpott; one great grandson Caleb Smith and brother Randy Philpott of Burlington, Iowa. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters and a brother.
The funeral for Rick will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, at Lunning Chapel with Jeremy Bonnesen and Dan Dingus officiating. A one-hour visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, at Lunning Chapel, where the family will meet with friends. Interment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery following the service.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
