Vernon Paul “Vern” Morrow, 80, died Nov. 11, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He was born to Kathryn and Fredrick Morrow on February 12,1944. He was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1963. He had an interest in cars and took a mechanic class at Southeastern Community College. His love for cars led him to jobs as a truck mechanic for various companies. In his spare time, he loved to work on his own cars.
Vernon met Nancy Lebeck Hunter at a singles group in Burlington and they united in marriage on Oct. 19, 1991. They blended their two families together in their union.
Vernon loved to look for frugal finds at auctions. He also loved reading western novels. He will be remembered by his family for his booming laughter, his big bear hugs, and his amazing pancakes. Most of all Vernon loved to see his grandchildren and they were his true pride and joy.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Nancy Morrow, two sons, Eric (Casey) and Rex (Janice) Morrow; three stepchildren John Hunter, Diana Orwick (Brian), and Sarah Camp (Jared); and his grandchildren: Elizabeth, Haley, Brady, Casey, Reagan, Heather, Adelle, and Luke; and two great grandchildren: Rosalyn and Lucian.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim, and two sisters Kay and Carolee.
There will be a private family graveside service. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to the charity of your choice.
