
Jack L. Brown, 77, of West Burlington, died Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at his home.
Born December 19, 1948, in Burlington, he was the son of Charles G. and Ina " Jenny" James Bomar Brown. On November 21, 2007, he married Sherry A. Neff in Oquawka, Ill.
After graduating from high school, Jack attended Southeastern Community College. He was a true jack of all trades, taking on work that ranged from gunsmithing to driving semis.
He loved the outdoors; whether he was hunting, fishing, watching sprint car races riding motorcycles or looking for treasure with his metal detector. Jack also had a deep appreciation for music and could often be found listening to classic rock or playing his guitar.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry of West Burlington; ten children, Anthony C. (Kristi) Brown of Mt. Pleasant, Carry (Julius) Dampha of Des Moines, Roxanna (Lawrence) Gammage of Des Moines, Bradley (April) Dickenson of Ottumwa, Shawn Dickenson of Burlington, Krystal Dickenson of Burlington, Morgan (Lee) Williams, Ashley Dickenson of Burlington and Cody Lumberg of West Burlington; 32 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence T. (Susan) Brown of Stronghurst, IL; three sisters, Charlotte L. Arthur of Fort Madison, Carol J. (Wade) Breuer of Danville, Patricia A. (Ron) Mixon of SC; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Chewy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mr. Brown will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at Spring Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the burial.
