George Joseph Weingart, 90, of Burlington, died Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Klein Center.

Born May 3, 1934, in Burlington, he was the son of George "Socky" Rudolph and Gertrude Emma Popp Weingart. On May 14, 1960, he married Marilyn Frances Levins in St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Burlington. She passed on January 27, 2018.

He was a graduate of Burlington High School, where he participated in many actives including the hurdles in track and basketball. He was proud to serve as the vice president of his senior class. Following high school he served in the United States Navy.

George worked as a lineman for Northwestern Bell for many years.

George was a member of Divine Mercy Parish- St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Cascade Boating Association and a past member of the Sportsman Club. He enjoyed nature and the outdoors; fishing, duck hunting, eagle watching, and car rides through the parks and by the river. He was very active in sports in his youth and liked to cheer on many sports teams on TV. Most of all, George loved visiting with friends and family. He always had a story to share. 

Survivors include three daughters, Katherine Ann (John) Ita of Mt Pleasant, Ann Marie (Chris) Smith of Burlington and Diane Marie (Rick) John of Burlington; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. 

Family will receive friends following a 4:30 p.m. Rosary Service until 7 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Weingart will be 10:30 AM Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Jake Greiner as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. John's Cafeteria following the burial. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Divine Mercy Parish and Klein Legacy Fund.
