Robert Lee Burnett, 86, of Burlington, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at his home in Burlington.
Born on Sept. 20, 1938, in Chariton, he was the son of Wilbur and Roberta Campbell Burnett.
Robert served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961. He worked in the maintenance department for IRC, Des Moines County and Exide. He was a member of the Burlington Corvette Club, Burlington Shoquoquon Boat Club and Burlington Eagles Club Post #150. In the summer Robert loved taking his family out for boat rides on the Mississippi River. He was a car enthusiast and loved his most pride possessions, his Chevy Corvette’s. Most of all Robert enjoyed being with his family and friends.
He is survived by his three children: Jerry Burnett of Fort Madison, Dianna Burnett and Scott (Kimberle) Burnett all of Burlington, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Myranda (Mark) Hadley, Victoria Burnett, Tressa Burnett, Emily (Elijah) Whited, Lane Burnett, Ian Burnett, Zachary Burnett and Hunter Burnett and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Burnett and sister Nancy Burnett.
The visitation for Robert will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec, 13, 2024, at Lunning Chapel where the family will meet with friends. Military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, at Lunning Chapel with the Burlington Honor Guard. Interment will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his memory for Compassus Hospice.
