Ronald Edward Laue, 81, of Burlington, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Klein Center in West Burlington with his wife and children by his side.

Born July 23, 1943, in Burlington, he was the son of Harley Fred and Rosie Louise Warth Laue. On Oct. 31, 1963, he married Janet Ann Vaughn at Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington. 

He was a 1961 graduate of Burlington High School. 

Ron was a lifelong farmer and had worked as an x-ray tech for Murray Iron Works for around 10 years. He also drove a pace truck at 34 Raceway for 11 years.

He was a member of Farm Bureau, Trustee for Drainage District #8 in Burlington, and served on the Sperry Board of Directors for 25 years, where he served as a past president. He enjoyed guns, cars, racing and watching westerns. He loved telling jokes and was remembered for often repeating them. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Janet Ann Laue of Burlington; daughter, Lorrie (Scott) Parish of Burlington; son, Jeff (Amy) Laue of Burlington; three grandchildren, Nick (Jessi) Parish, Courtney (Kyle) Allen, Ally (Will) Watts, six great-grandchildren, Karsen, Kane and Cohen Allen, Presley, Paityn and Lane Watts, with two more on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Harrington of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Stewart.

Visitation will be from 12 to 5 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The funeral service for Mr. Laue will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service, with Pastor Kendall Adams officiating. Burial will be in North Walker Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the burial.

Memorials have been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice and Red Cross.
