Richard B. "Dick" Gaddis, Jr., 71, of Oquawka, Ill., and formerly of Burlington, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021.
Dick was born Jan. 31, 1950, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Richard B.
and Joyce Blomstrom Gaddis, Sr. Dick graduated from Burlington High
School with the class of 1968. After high school, Dick joined the United
States Navy and served until 1974. Dick previously worked for Walter
Fox Appliance, Exide, and Burlington Northern Santa Fe shops in
Burlington, where he retired.
Dick married Bonnie Wagy on November 23, 1985 in Oquawka, Ill.
Dick is survived by his wife; daughter,
Brandi Gaddis; his caretaker and son, Andy Gaddis; stepdaughter,
Nicole Pearson; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
The memorial funeral service will be held in Lunning Chapel at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 29 with Pastor Dan Ashton of Rozetta Baptist
Church officiating. The Burlington Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites. The family will receive friends from noon until the time
of service. Cremation has been accorded.
A memorial has been established for the American Diabetes Association.
