Jana Kay Finley, 54, of LaHarpe, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 28, 2024 at her home.
Jana was born May 4, 1970 in Macomb, Ill., the daughter of John W. and Betty Lee Kurtz Shallenberger. On Feb. 20, 1998, she married Brad R. Finley. They later divorced.
Jana was a 1988 graduate of LaHarpe High School. Following high school, she worked as a Medical Assistant for a short time, before staying home to raise her daughters. Once her daughters grew older, she worked at the LaHarpe-Davier Nursing Home, Country Café and R & M Market & Floral, all in LaHarpe. Jana volunteered for the LaHarpe Fire Department and served as an EMT for the LaHarpe Ambulance Service for many years. She also assisted with Girl Scouts when her daughters were young.
Jana enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, kayaking, and being outdoors.
Survivors include three daughters: Ashley (Landon) Yard of LaHarpe, Brittni Finley of Christopher, Illinois and Bradee Finley of LaHarpe; three grandchildren: Jackson Shallenberger, Clayton Yard and Bexley Yard and one brother: John L. Shallenberger of LaHarpe.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings in infancy.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. A graveside service will follow at 12 noon at LaHarpe Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating.
A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society.
