Russ Le Roy Weir, 75, of Burlington, died Thursday, May 16, 2024, at his home.
Born Feb. 8, 1949, in Burlington, he was the son of Everett Lee and Helen Marie Weir.
He was a graduate of Burlington Notre Dame and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a roofer for many years.
Russ loved fishing, attending Boy Scout events with his grandson Spencer, nature and eagle watching. His grandsons Tommy and Spencer were his life, along with his dog Missy.
He is survived by his two daughters; Carrie Reusch and Christina Weir; grandchildren, Tommy (Shelbi), Spencer (Christina), Jersey (Jordan), Cashmiere, Divinity, Xavier and Johna; two brothers, David Balzer and Dallas Balzer; nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Missy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son John Weir.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, June 6 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7th at Lunning Chapel, followed by a graveside service and burial at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Pastor Scott Collier will officiate.
According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
