Chad Everett Szewczyk, 53, of Burlington, died Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at his home. Born March 16, 1971, he was the son of Edwin Randy and Shirley Marie Ford Szewczyk. On May 4, 2013, he married Valeria Marie Garner in Burlington. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2023. Chad worked for many years at Siemens in Fort Madison as a forklift operator. Chad was of the Christian faith. He loved his rescue dogs and going fishing. Chad really enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and Nascar racer Matt Kenseth. Survivors include his father, Edwin Randy Szewczyk of Morning Sun, step father, Robert Wayne McDonald, Jr. of Burlington; step-son, Aaron (Jessica) Bigger of New Boston, Ill.; two step-daughters, Megan (Brent) Shearer and Hannah Bigger, both of New Boston; two brothers, Alan (Jolene) Milks and Curtis (Elizabeth) Blackburn, both of West Burlington; one niece, Samantha Milks and one nephew, Dalton-James Milks. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his mother. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. There will be no visitation or services.
