
Darin Lee Tansey, 50, of Miami Beach, Florida, formerly of Burlington, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at his home.
Born February 16, 1975, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Gary and Patricia Tansey.
He was a 1993 graduate of Burlington High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Communications, in addition to two minors in Business Management and Psychology.
Darin was a distinguished real estate professional and was one of the nation’s top-performing agents. He owned and operated The Darin Tansey Group, affiliated with Douglas Elliman Real Estate in Miami Beach, Florida. He was known for his tireless energy and gift for building lasting relationships.
Darin enjoyed traveling, golfing, boating, and drinking fine red wine. He was admired for his integrity, generosity, tenacity and ability to make everyone feel seen and valued, whether mentoring his team, or sharing unforgettable moments with family and friends. Darin had a reputation as a trusted advisor and friend to many. Excellence was the standard Darin brought to every endeavor, no matter how great or small. His natural warmth, beaming smile, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He is survived by one brother Jerry (Sammie) Tansey of Des Moines, Iowa; niece Aubrey Tansey and nephew Oliver Tansey both of Des Moines, Iowa; half-sister Lisa Walsh-Kerns of Burlington; aunts, uncles, and several cousins and his goddaughter Peyton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 24 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 25 at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Kendall Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.
