Joanne C. Boyle, 88, of Burlington, died Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born June 16, 1937, in Burlington, she was the daughter of William Jesse and Mary Bernice Simms Daugherty. Joanne married Donald R. Morgan and together they had their five girls before they divorced. She married Steve Boyle, and together they shared 55 happy years filled with love and happiness.

Joanne began her career working in the pediatric ward at Burlington Medical Center. She later worked for IRC Resistor before spending 21 years with Sheaffer Pen Co. in Ft. Madison.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. Joanne enjoyed crocheting, visiting the casino, and spending time on her computer, whether designing outfits or playing games. Above all else, she cherished the time she spent with her five daughters and her grandchildren, who brought her the greatest joy.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Boyle of Burlington; five daughters, Chris (Ken) Gregory of Burlington, Robin (Omer) Vahle of Burlington, Karen (Tom) George of Nassau Bay, TX, Lori (Rick Knutson) Morgan of Des Moines, and Lisa Morgan of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Eric (Crystal), Jamie (Amanda), Alex (Jessica), Rachel (Zack), and Jerica; seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa (Grant), Brett, Lexxi, Gabe, Lili, Liam and Emmy; sister-in-law, Edith Daugherty of Argyle and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jeanne (Robert) Callaway, brother, John "Jack" Daugherty, one granddaughter, Amber Peterson and one great-great granddaughter, Trisslyn Jones.

Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
