Douglas Alan Mattoon, 53, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Oct. 28, 1970, in Burlington, he was the son of Warren L. and Sharon J. Haley Mattoon.
He graduated from Burlington High School. He attended Southeastern Community College and studied auto mechanics.
He was a very proud U.S. Marines Veteran.
Doug worked as a maintenance supervisor at the US Gypsum Sperry plant for 20 years. He spent many years helping his long time friend, Jim Scudder.
Doug enjoyed playing darts, watching WWE wrestling and car racing. Before his father's passing, he spent many hours helping him restore cars. He loved being with his grandbabies. Doug had a caring heart and was always doing what he could for others.
Survivors include his mother, Sharon J. Mattoon of Burlington; five children: Jordaan (Jacob Nettleton) Mattoon of Burlington, Shelby (Matthew) Fedder Mattoon of Colo., Brady Mattoon of CO, Austin Irthum of Colo., and Cody Earl of Colo.; furbabies, Jade and Ivy; four grandchildren, Mya, Hadley, Catalina and Delaney Fedder; granddogs, Swish and Blu; brother, Steven (Susan) Mattoon of Ill.; long-time Partner, Rhonda Snyder of Burlington; bonus children, Michelle Parnell and Alexandria Miscevich both of Burlington; and bonus grandchild, Ronan Penrod.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Mr. Mattoon will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street. Full military honors will be rendered.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the family.
