Gary Allen Gronwoldt, 67, of Burlington, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Aug. 9, 1954, in Riceville, he was the son of Vern John and Betty J McBride Gronwoldt.

He worked as a chef for over 40 years, holding positions at several restaurants around Burlington in his career.

He loved to cook, garden and play pool. Most of all, he loved his family and his grandkids.

Survivors include three children, Gary Gronwoldt II, Ashley Gronwoldt and Amber Gronwoldt; three brothers, James, Virgil (Tina) and Robert Gronwoldt; and one sister, Jean (Ralph) Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Nancy Spooner.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his grandkids.
