Janette Louise Wunderlich, 91, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, at Bickford Cottage in Burlington.
Born Nov. 22, 1933, in Burlington, she was the daughter of William and Effie Stephenson. She married Dale Edward Wunderlich on June 6, 1954 in Burlington. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2012.
Janette worked as a secretary/ banker and receptionist for many years for Riley Bros., Farmers and Merchants Bank and Trust, First Congregational Church and Drs. McMurray and Zabloudil.
She was a girl scout leader and served on the church Diaconate Board and Mission Board along with being active with the Women’s Fellowship. She absolute loved animals and was a super proud grandma and great grandma!
She is survived by her two grandchildren; Stephanie (Jared) Heckart of Danville and Jacob (Alyssa) Orth of Burlington and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Cindy Orth, son-in-law Steve Orth and two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Jim Francisco will officiate.
Memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society or to First Congregational Church.
According to her wishes, cremation will be accorded following the funeral service. Burial will be held at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
